After being ill for several months he passed away in a hospital outside of Chicago. Some accounts I read stated that he died of a heart attack, others said kidney or liver failure. He was nicknamed "the Myth" by former competitive bodybuilder Rick Wayne and became involved in Hit bodybuilding training with Nautilus Inventor Arthur Jones. He had the ideal proportions for a competitive bodybuilder including a narrow waist and broad shoulders and was the only bodybuilder to defeat Arnold Schwarzenegger in a competition. He last competed in 1985 and has a son that is a competitive bodybuilder but has not risen to the top ranks yet. I'm not sure if he's still competing.
